Cash Drawer Not Closing

It very common for sites to have issues with their cash drawer not being able to lock or it move in and out over all.

There are some steps that you may want to follow in order to solve this issue for the client and each step links back to a factor that can cause the issues for them.

1: Make sure that there is nothing stuck in the back of the cash drawer metal trey. having something stuck in the back can cause the trey not to go all the way back in it's position or can even cause resistance when moving the tray in and out.

In order to check there is nothing stuck back there, you will need to remove the cash insert then take out the metal drawer to have access to the back of the cash drawer. Now that you are able to see the back of the drawer, have a look to see if there is anything there that shouldn't be, if there is then feel free to remove it and add back the cash drawer to test if your issue is sorted.

2: Another factor that can be causing you issues is that receipt printer being faulty and constantly firing out the cash drawer meaning that you are not able to close the cash drawer.

The only thing that you would have to do to eliminate this fault is by powering off the printer or if it is connected to the till, then make sure to unplug the drawer cable from the till itself.

After that has all been disconnected, feel free to test out the drawer and see if it then closes.

3: The last factor that can be effecting the cash drawer not being able to close is the release button found at the bottom of the cash drawer which is what is used to fire the cash drawer manually.

If that button has an pressure applied, it can cause the drawer to constantly be fired out.

Removing any pressure or seeing of the button is bring can fix the issue.

If you have been through all these steps and your issue still hasn't been solved, you may need to ask the client for a picture of the drawer and analyse it yourself before making a final decision
