Importing Stock (Webshop)

Stock is always monitored by each business as it is key for them to monitor what goes in and out in order to get the most accurate numbers at the end of each week or month. Having accurate stock count will prevent businesses from losing money.

Normally stock can be set from the till, however in some cases there may be a need of importing stock through a .csv file through tillconfig.net. The reason for this method being used is because it is the quickest way of doing it as well as it is normally done when looking to test out products.

In order for you to import the stock count onto a program, you will need to perform a "PLU Detail Export" report that will provide you with the correct details that you will need to then enter in the stock count per each item and them import it back into the site

1: Select the PLU Detail Export report, then the department/group links to filter your file. It is important to run this report in .CSV format, as that is the easiest way to manipulate the data.

2. Once your report has been downloaded, clear out all columns except for the "Record" column. This is essentially all of the PLU numbers that can be found on the back office, one for each product. Everything else will be deleted as the PLU is the only information we need. Once you only have that one column, you will then want to add a new column right next to the only one on that sheet with the header of "Stock".

The reason for giving that header to the new column is because the when importing the file, the program will be looking at the the headers in order to know what data to be collecting.

3. Now that you only have to columns that are headed, you will now want to fill in the stock column accordingly to the number of stock per item.

This is what your table should look like by the end:

Now that you have your data saved, you will want to actually import the data  into the site that you are making the changes to. This import will be made via tillconfig.net. (The path to imports on tillconfig.net is Home Page -> OFFICEWEB -> PLU IMPORT)

When importing into till config , you will get asked what data out of that table you want to be read and imported. Not selecting the data you wish to import will mean that your intended changes wont take place.

This is what your two options should be when picking the data type:

4) Click Import Data, head to the back office and ensure that the intended changes have been made.
