There are different ways of getting a receipt printer connected, they can either be connected via serial or ethernet depending on how the site has their setup however, majority of the time they would be connected through a serial connection which is a 9 pin male to female or female to female cable that runs form the back of the printer to the COM ports at the back of the till.
Serial Connection:
- Connect the printer to the till by using an available COM Port
- On the till tap program mode and enter code 2552
- Tap on All Prog and press OK
- Tap on System Programming then tap on 11. Device Connection
- Under the Receipt Printer section tap on Connected to Port No and press enter.
- Then select the port that you connected to the printer to earlier, for example here the printer is connected to COM1
- Then go back and tap on 13 I/O Parameter
- Under the header for the port that the printer is connected to, tap on Connected Device and press enter.
- Select the device called Epson TM-T88
Ethernet Connection:
1. Connect the Ethernet cable to the back of the printer in order to get it online
2. Run a test print by holding the power and the food button down at the same time while the printer is off. This will print a receipt that will hold configuration information such as the Baud Rate or the IP Address that was given to the printer.
3. On the your internet browser, search up the IP Address that is found on the test print which will send you to the IP configuration settings of the printer.
4. Once you are on the IP Configuration screen, set the IP address to static and enter in the new IP address of the printer so that once it is sent over to the site, they can just plug it in and it will be ready to be used without having to configure anything else. To find the bets IP address to set to the printer, you can run an IP scan on the till so you can see the IP addresses that are already being used to avoid setting it to an already occupied IP.
5. Now that you know what the IP address is, on the till head over to Program Mode> All Prog> System Programming> IP Printer> Select the next available slot
6. Enter in the printer name, the IP address and the connected device to "Epson TM-T88"
7. Once that has been entered, go back two pages and select "Device Connections". Set the receipt printer connection port number to the IP printer accordingly to how you named it.
