Setting up master tills

Created by Alex Schipor, Modified on Mon, 12 Dec, 2022 at 11:45 AM by Alex Schipor

Till 1 is generally the master till that holds table balances, manages customer balances (if used) and time and attendance.

Only one till in the system can be the master.

The rest of the tills (normally TILL ID 2 upwards) are satellite tills, they look to the master till to see grab table balances, customer balances and time and attendance information.

Till 1 master should be set as the following

Till 2 and upwards should generally be set:

Terminal ID = must be unique

Location = generally the same across all tills

Terminal name = name of the till (generally eposxxx) where xxx is the till number, this is just used as a reference

Clerks Float = normally YES – this means you can sign on as staff 1 on till 1, and then go to till 2 and sign on at staff 1 and it will drag across the transaction/items you originally rung in on till 1.

Use centralised check system? = YES this means all tils share the same table numbers, e.g. open table 1 on till 1, save items. When you open table 1 on till 2 – does it show the same items.

This machine check tracking master? = NO on satellite. Only the master should be set as this.

I am check backup master? = NO as check backup master doesn’t function correctly

Use centralised customer totals ? = YES as we want the customer balances to share across the system

This machine customer total master = NO  as only the master till should be this

Use centralised time and attendance file ? YES as we want to share the time and attendance data across the system

This machine time and attendance master? NO as we only want the master till to be this

Vlan number = any number but must be the same number as the master for it to communicate.

CHANGE VLAN ON A SYSTEM, ESPECIALLY AT EBM OFFICE AS MULTIPLE SYSTEMS MAY BE OPEN
